From Chef Marty:

Veg is a dream born many years ago under the oak trees on a wine farm in South Africa. I wanted to bring the fresh tastes of the fruits, vegetables and seafood that I grew up with to Sarasota for everyone to enjoy. In creating the vegetarian and seafood concept for Veg, I enlisted the help of my daughter Amanda, who has been a vegetarian for many years. Together with my wife Maggie, we set out to create something truly wonderful.

The focus of Veg is “back to basics”. The food is prepared from scratch each day in an unpretentious manner, allowing the natural flavors to come alive. Our low-salt and low-fat lunches and dinners are at the forefront of the clean, slow and healthy food revolution. Without any meat or poultry on the premises, we cater to vegetarians, vegans and pescatarians.

Our freshly made soups are always dairy-free. We also have vegan and gluten-free options. Our customers rave about the fact that they can actually taste the vegetables in the soups as the soups are prepared without additives or thickening agents.

Our delicious salads contain a wide variety of organic greens as well as a rainbow of fresh vegetables with house-made dressings. We feature local produce whenever possible and strive to offer our customers the freshest and most nutritious array of vegetables possible.

We offer a wide variety of sandwiches which satisfy vegetarians & vegans as well as customers who are looking for healthier & great-tasting lunches (especially during a lunch hour). Our bread is baked locally for us each day and we also have gluten-free bread available.

Dinner features delicious wild-caught seafood from local as well as global sources. We are excited to introduce our customers to tastes and flavors that they may not have had before. Besides our seafood, we have created signature dishes such as our Portobello Mushroom Volcano. We infuse many of our dishes with spices from around the world to bring exciting flavors to our vegetarian and seafood cuisine.

Veg also offers a well-chosen selection of wine and beer including organic and gluten-free. We also have natural sodas, spritzers, teas and coffee as well as a delicious selection of house-made desserts, including some vegan and gluten-free.
